Plan your location around your routes
Start with the places you want to visit: around the Duomo, in the Oltrarno south of the Arno or near Santa Croce. If you arrive by train and plan several day trips, being close to Santa Maria Novella is practical. The selection above moves the search area; your travel dates stay the same.
Arriving by car or plane
The whole historic centre is a camera-enforced restricted traffic zone, the ZTL. If you come by car and your accommodation lies inside the zone, ask before you arrive whether they can have your number plate registered and where you can park. From the airport, the T2 tram runs to the Alamanni-Stazione stop right next to Santa Maria Novella station and on to Piazza San Marco. An address near this line shortens the journey on your arrival and departure days.
A neighbourhood is not yet a room
A hotel on a busy square can have a quiet room facing the courtyard. Conversely, the name of the neighbourhood says little about a room facing the street. So check the room category, which way the windows face and, if needed, whether there is a lift to the floor you have booked. For a family, what counts is the beds and permitted occupancy of the specific room, not the hotel's largest room category.
Compare the total price and conditions
Compare the same nights and the same occupancy. Breakfast, cancellation, the overnight tourist tax and other fees can be handled differently from one offer to the next.
